2025 Microgrant Program
Microgrants help nonprofit staff obtain strategies and skills to enhance professional and organizational productivity.
Microgrants may be used for conferences and training expenses, as well as for travel costs associated with attending the conference/training.
Application Process
The 2025 Microgrant application portal is open Feb. 3 - Feb. 17. Please email completed applications to Andrea Gerhard at agerhard@heartofillinois.org
Guidelines
Microgrants help fund nonprofit staff and board member trainings and professional development programs of choice. Microgrants are strategic investments in people and organizations to be used to defray the cost of attending programs that are targeted at improving the management, governance and leadership of the applicant organization.
The maximum grant amount awarded per organization is $1,500, and the organization must pay no less than 20 percent of the total cost of the training.
- Microgrants will support only FUTURE opportunities, not trainings or professional development already completed.
- Organization may apply for only one microgrant per cycle.
Note: Preference will be given to organizations with an annual budget of less than $1 million. Also, the grantmaking process of the Heart of Illinois Community Foundation prioritizes 501c3 organizations that are recognized by the IRS as operating public charities.
Dollars are tight in most organizations...please don't miss out on this great opportunity!
