Moultrie County Impact Giving Circle Hosts First Gathering, Awards $5,000 in Community Grants

The Heart of Illinois Community Foundation is pleased to announce that the Moultrie County Impact Giving Circle hosted its first official gathering on November 13, marking an exciting milestone for this new philanthropic initiative dedicated to supporting local needs.

Members of the Impact Giving Circle came together for an evening of community, connection, and collaborative giving. Over a simple supper of soup and sandwiches from Sweet Vail Café, members discussed the needs they see throughout Moultrie County and nominated organizations close to their hearts.

Unlike traditional grant cycles, Impact Giving Circle members bring forward the nonprofits and causes they personally know are making a difference. After thoughtful discussion, members cast their votes and awarded two grants totaling $5,000.

This year’s inaugural grants will support:

  • Sullivan Area Ministerial Association – Providing emergency assistance, supporting local initiatives, and uniting clergy to serve the community with compassion.

  • Moultrie County Food Pantry – Meeting critical needs for neighbors facing food insecurity by offering groceries, personal care items, and hope.

The gathering took place on World Kindness Day, an especially meaningful backdrop for an evening centered on generosity and shared purpose.
