New Marker Dedicated Honoring Black Entrepreneurs

On September 1, we gathered to celebrate history, honor legacy, and make sure important stories are never forgotten with the dedication of the newest marker on the Macon County African American Heritage Trail, recognizing Samuel Singleton and Black entrepreneurs who helped shape Decatur’s history. We are especially thankful for the family members who joined us today to celebrate their relatives, share in this special moment, and help ensure their impact on our community continues to be remembered. This marker is located on Merchant Street in downtown Decatur.
