Professional Development & Training Dollars Available for Nonprofit Organizations

Macon, Moultrie, and Piatt Counties – Starting February 2, area nonprofit organizations* are eligible to apply for funds through the Microgrant Program, requesting up to $1,500 per organization to fund professional development or training. The application deadline is Monday, February 16. Selected nonprofit organizations will be announced in early March and receive their individual grant awards in the period following.

“It’s crucial for nonprofit staff to stay on top of trends and strategies, as well as technology advancements,” said Natalie Beck, HICF CEO. “However, we know many nonprofits can’t afford professional training within their operating budgets. The microgrant program helps remove this financial barrier.”

The application, available through the HICF Grant Portal at bit.ly/HICFGrants takes just a short time to complete. Additional information and further grant criteria and guidelines are available on the HICF website at heartofillinois.org/2026-microgrant-program.

Microgrants may be used for these expenses:

  • Course enrollment
  • Webinars
  • Board Development
  • Conference Registration
  • Workbooks/Books/Toolkits
  • Online Resources
  • Customized Training
