Young Leaders In Action Announces Grant Program for 2026
YLIA Looks to Fund Projects that Remove Barriers to Student Learning
MACON COUNTY - Young Leaders in Action (YLIA) is thrilled to announce the initiation of their annual grant, conference, and application season. This year through their grant program, YLIA is offering $5,000 in grant funding centered on the theme Meeting Basic Needs for Student Success. It is intended to support students' basic needs and remove learning barriers by helping students feel safe, warm, and ready to perform their best. This effort is designed to support the current and future generations of leaders while making an impact in the community.
Area nonprofit organization, churches, or schools in Macon County who are working to make a meaningful impact in their communities are invited to apply. Awarding up to $1,000 per recipient organization, grant funds may be used for projects and programs like to school clothing closets, coat and shoe distribution programs, and food or hygiene supplies, all of which help create a stable learning environment where students are prepared and confident. By meeting these needs, schools and organizations can promote student well-being, increase attendance, and empower their youth.
“When we invest in students’ basic needs, we are investing in their ability to learn, lead, and thrive,” said Temethia Joyner, Program Director of Young Leaders in Action. “This grant is about unnecessary barriers that too often stand in the way of student success and ensuring young people have what they need to feel safe, supported, and ready to reach their full potential.”
To apply, eligible applicant organizations should complete the application form (available at heartofillinois.org) and submit it to the YLIA Grant Committee by emailing Temethia Joyner at tjoyner@heartofillinois.org. Applications must be received by January 20, 2026 to be considered as a part of this process. The organization plans to announce recipients in February 2026.
Additionally, in the coming months any sophomores, juniors, and seniors residing in Macon County are encouraged to apply for membership if they are interested in taking part in future YLIA programs. Young Leaders in Action aims to empower aspiring students with the necessary skills to develop socially, professionally, and personally. Those seeking to engage in these opportunities are invited to visit the YLIA Facebook page @YLIACFMC.
