Camp Sokkia: Cultivating Young Minds

The Heart of Illinois Community Foundation is proud to present the Decatur Family YMCA with $3,000 to support the Camp Sokkia program.

At the YMCA, Camp Sokkia has proved to be an absolute game-changer. From the moment campers step into this vibrant summer program they will be greeted with nothing but warmth, enthusiasm, and excitement. Not only does Camp Sokkia provide children, ages 5-12, with a safe and inclusive environment away from home, but they also allow children to engage in various recreational and educational activities, fostering important life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and resilience.


Supporting programs like Camp Sokkia is vital for our community and its growth. By investing in our youth and providing them with opportunities for development and creative exploration we are shaping the future generation into compassionate, confident, and capable individuals who will undoubtedly leave a lasting positive effect on our society.
