Dale and Donna Arnold Scholarship for Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science

The purity of a person's heart can be quickly measured by how they regard animals, and with that in mind, we recognize Dale and Donna Arnold's hearts of gold for their lifelong love for animals and helping others.

We are excited to welcome our newest endowed scholarship fund, the Dale and Donna Arnold Scholarship for Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science. This scholarship honors the memory of Decatur philanthropists Dale and Donna Arnold. Dale, a charter member of our foundation's board, passed away in 2010 following a life dedicated to leadership, volunteerism and philanthropy. Dale was President of Hickory Point Bank and served on over 25 local boards. Donna passed away in 2011 and was also dedicated to her community and helping those in need. Donna served as president of the DMH auxiliary and co-chairwoman of the Fun Fair. The Arnold's were supporters of the Homeward Bound Pet Shelter which was at one-time the largest no-kill shelter in our area, operating entirely on donations and adoption fees. Homeward Bound Pet Shelter closed in 2016. The Arnold's were dog lovers and their beloved Dorsey is pictured with them above.

This $2,500 annual scholarship will be awarded to a high-achieving Macon County graduating high school senior planning to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine or animal science. We're thankful Dale and Donna's vision went beyond their lifetime as this scholarship combines their love for helping others with their love for animals.
