Piatt County Opportunities

The Heart of Illinois Community Foundation is committed to stewarding charitable resources with discipline, integrity, and long-term vision. Our grantmaking is guided by a focus on measurable community impact, organizational excellence, and sustainable outcomes.

We primarily invest in initiatives within three strategic priority areas:

  • Education
  • Environmental stewardship
  • Workforce development

These focus areas reflect our belief that strong educational systems, responsible environmental stewardship, and a prepared and resilient workforce are essential to the long-term vitality of Macon, Moultrie, and Piatt Counties.

Our open-call grant programs are highly competitive. We receive significantly more requests than available discretionary resources allow us to fund. As a result, prior to accepting grant applications, we request a Letter of Intent. Only proposals demonstrating exceptional alignment with our strategic priorities, clear evidence of need, strong organizational capacity, and measurable, sustainable outcomes will be invited to submit an application.

We prioritize investments that:

  • Create lasting change rather than temporary relief
  • Strengthen organizational effectiveness and long-term sustainability
  • Leverage additional funding or community support
  • Demonstrate thoughtful planning, evaluation, and accountability

While many worthy initiatives exist throughout our region, our responsibility is to deploy resources where they will generate the greatest return for the community over time.
