Mobile Museum of Tolerance Brings World-Class Anti-Semitism, Bullying and Racism Learning Experience to Macon County

The Mobile Museum of Tolerance will be in Macon County June 19 - 23.

Macon County – Decatur Memorial Hospital and The Community Foundation of Macon County will host the Mobile Museum of Tolerance (MMOT) in Macon County from Monday, June 19th through Friday, June 23rd. The MMOT is free and open to community members of all ages.

The Mobile Museum of Tolerance will be in Macon County on the following dates and locations:

  • Monday, June 19th from 12pm-5pm at the African American Cultural & Genealogical Society of Illinois (235 W. Eldorado St. Decatur, IL 62523) as part of their Juneteenth celebration
  • Tuesday, June 20th from 1pm-7pm at Decatur Memorial Hospital (375 W. McKinley Ave. Decatur, IL 62526)
  • Wednesday, June 21st and Thursday, June 22nd from 12pm-6pm at Decatur Memorial Hospital
  • Friday, June 23rd from 9am-3pm at Decatur Memorial Hospital

Community members can stop by the MMOT anytime during the times of operation and will have the option to watch videos on Anne Frank, Civil Rights, Ordinary People, and Modern Antisemitism. Each video is 7-10 minutes long.

The MMOT inspires people of all ages and backgrounds, empowering them to raise their voices and combat anti-Semitism, bullying, racism, hate, and intolerance and to promote human dignity. The first-of-its-kind in the United States, the MMOT is a free traveling mobile education center, utilizing innovative technology and interactive lessons to bring a message of tolerance directly to communities across the state of Illinois.
