The Community Foundation prides itself on bringing people who care together with causes that matter.
The Community Wish List assists the Heart of Illinois Community Foundation in our programming because if we don’t know the needs of our community, we can’t connect donors with those causes.
For donors with Donor Advised Funds at the HICF, contact Chasity Casey at 217-429-3000 or ccasey@heartofillinois.org to recommend a grant from your fund to fulfill all or part of a wish. If you don’t have a fund, you can make gifts directly to the nonprofit of your choice, just be sure to tell them that you saw it on the Community Wish List!

This program is to highlight the art programs of our area schools and to bring this community of artists together. We are able to provide ample space for up to 18 schools/groups to exhibit 30 pieces of artwork. Teachers or group leaders may submit the student artwork. The arts should be part of a well-rounded education. Many teachers applaud and encourage the continuation of exhibit opportunities like this. | Year-Long Reading Challenge Decatur Public Library Foundation — The Library will be running a year-long reading challenge, throughout 2025 in conjunction with the 150th anniversary celebration. We would like to provide tangible incentives (such as an enamel pin) at the 150- and 300-day marks. Approximately, 10,000 items at $1-1.50/item = $10-12,000. The Library would also like to offer a drawing for the chance to win larger items, such as tablets and VR equipment. We are planning for 8-10 drawing prizes for those reaching 150 days by the Library’s anniversary in August and 4-5 drawing prizes for those reaching 300 days by the end of 2025. The number of drawing prizes will correspond to the number of participants. Approximately $250 per prize option = $3-4,000 |

We have 65 aides and being the only non-for-profit home care agency in the area, we have challenges competing for staff with the private companies, so I like to do as much as possible to make our aides feel appreciated and important. |

| Young Artists Showcase Gallery 510 Art & Framing — YOUNG ARTISTS SHOWCASE is a program for 5th - 8th grade students. Decatur students and those from surrounding rural communities are eligible to submit work. Individuals or students may submit. By providing this exhibit opportunity and recognition we are playing a part in sparking the creativity and innovation young people need not only for their well-being but in their future. Businesses want creative people. Funds are used to mount, mat and professionally present their artwork in a professional gallery. They are provided with a reception and awards with their names printed in a program. Many smiling faces appear with their artwork on First Friday! |
